Giant Robo LaserDisc Releases

In both the Japanese and the American editions, this series has some of the most complicated titling and numbering to be found in any series so short. The main title of the series is Giant Robo The Animation, to distinguish it from an old live-action TV series of the same name, while in Japanese it is additionally subtitled "Chikyuu ga Seishi Suru Hi" (The Day Earth Stopped), which the American publishers rendered by "The Night the Earth Stood Still". Most episodes, moreover, have not only their own titles, but subtitles to those titles. The special omake episodes have their own complexities again. To cap the confusion, the American releases are numbered inconsistently, as regards both volume and episode numbers, and catalogue numbers, and the publisher changed part-way through the series.
